The Rolex Datejust 36 reference 126234 is the classic Datejust in its most versatile form: a 36mm Oystersteel case topped with an 18k white gold fluted bezel. The fluting is the reason for the white gold, it catches light the way the old steel fluted bezels never could, while keeping the watch tonal and understated rather than obviously two-tone, since steel and white gold read as the same cool silver. Rolex calls this combination White Rolesor.

This example has a white dial with the date at 3 o'clock under the Cyclops lens, and a screw-down Twinlock crown keeping it water resistant to 100 metres. At 36mm it is the original Datejust size, the one many consider the most wearable, and it sits comfortably on almost any wrist.

Inside is the Calibre 3235, Rolex's current-generation automatic movement, with a Chronergy escapement, a paramagnetic Parachrom hairspring and roughly 70 hours of power reserve, certified as a Superlative Chronometer after casing to within −2/+2 seconds a day, tighter than COSC requires.
