Frequently asked questions

What is the Cartier Tank Chinoise Ref. WHTA0015?

The Tank Chinoise at AED 390,000 is one of Cartier's most exclusive and artistically ambitious watch designs. The 'Chinese' Tank features a distinctive elongated case with horizontal bars inspired by Chinese portico architecture, creating a watch that is as much a piece of Art Deco jewellery as a timepiece.

What makes the Tank Chinoise different from other Tank models?

The Chinoise features distinctive horizontal brancards (side bars) that extend beyond the case, creating a frame like structure inspired by Chinese architectural elements. This gives it a more dramatic, elongated silhouette compared to the clean lines of the Tank Louis or Tank Francaise.

Why is the Tank Chinoise priced at AED 390,000?

The Tank Chinoise is produced in precious metals with limited availability, and it represents Cartier's haute horlogerie ambitions within the Tank family. The elaborate case construction and the reference's exclusivity position it as a collector's piece for those who appreciate rare Cartier designs.

Is the Tank Chinoise suitable for everyday wear?

The Tank Chinoise is primarily a dress watch and collector's piece. Its precious metal construction and distinctive design are best appreciated in formal and social settings where its extraordinary character can be fully admired.

How collectible is the Tank Chinoise?

The Tank Chinoise is one of Cartier's most rarefied watch offerings, produced in quantities far below mainstream Tank models. Collectors of unusual Cartier watches consider it among the most desirable references, and its Art Deco heritage gives it enduring cultural significance.
