Description
The Cartier Pebble-Shaped Watch Reference WGPB0003 is one of the rarest and most architectural pieces in modern Cartier production. The original Pebble was designed by Cartier's London workshop in 1972 with only six examples ever made, earning it the nickname "Baseball" and cementing its status as one of the most obscure and collectable Cartier London designs ever produced. This 2022 re-edition, released as part of the prestigious Cartier Privé Collection to mark the 50th anniversary of the original, faithfully recreates the sculptural pebble-shaped case with its signature rotated square dial opening, limited to just 150 individually numbered pieces worldwide. Explore other historic and limited references across the Cartier range including the Tank, Santos, and Crash.
The 36mm 18 carat yellow gold case measures just 6.29mm thick, with the smooth pebble-like form that gives the watch its name and conceals the lugs beneath the case. The eggshell opaline dial features black Roman numerals, a classic railway track minute scale, and polished blue steel sword-shaped hands, complete with the discreet Cartier "secret" signature hidden within the VII numeral. Inside is the Manufacture Caliber 430 MC, an ultra-thin hand-wound movement based on the legendary Piaget 430P, measuring just 2.15mm thick with a power reserve of approximately 40 hours. The small fluted crown is set with a blue sapphire cabochon, and the watch is presented on a beige calfskin strap with an 18 carat yellow gold ardillon buckle.
Every Cartier piece sold by Konesseur is authenticated in house against factory specifications and supplied with full documentation including the Cartier Certificate of Origin where present. As one of only 150 pieces produced and part of the Cartier Privé Collection, the WGPB0003 carries genuine collector and investment significance, with original retail at launch set at approximately CHF 42,700 and secondary market values reflecting the extreme scarcity of this reference. Dubai's 5 percent VAT against the 19 to 25 percent rates across European markets makes the UAE a structurally competitive place to acquire pieces at this level.
