Parfums de Marly Althaïr is the house's modern take on vanilla, a woody amber-vanilla built around high-quality Bourbon vanilla and launched in 2023. It opens bright rather than sweet, with orange blossom, bergamot, and a touch of cinnamon and cardamom giving it a fresh, spiced lift before the vanilla arrives. That opening is what stops it from being just another sugary vanilla.
At its heart, Bourbon vanilla takes over, warmed by elemi, and the base is where it turns rich and creamy: praline and candied almond for the sweetness, guaiac wood for a hint of smoke, and ambroxan and musk for depth and a long, skin-close trail. The result is warm and cosy but still refined, and although it is marketed to men, it wears as comfortably unisex.
It is a cooler-weather scent, best in autumn and winter and for evenings, with the kind of performance Parfums de Marly is known for, strong in the first hours and lasting most of the day.
