The Louis Vuitton Speedy P9 Bandoulière 40 in blue is Pharrell Williams' reinvention of the house's most famous bag, from his debut menswear collection. The trick of it is the material: it looks like the classic Monogram Speedy, but it is made entirely from naturally supple grained calfskin, with the Monogram applied by a high-end silk-screen technique that recreates the soft, almost blurry look of Monogram on canvas. The result is a Speedy that answers a long-standing request, the shape everyone loves, rendered in full leather.
It is the softer, less structured version of the Speedy, slouchy and body-friendly rather than boxy, in a rich blue, fully lined in ultra-luxurious lambskin. It carries by the rolled top handles or on the removable, adjustable strap, and comes with a matching removable leather pouch. Inside there is a main compartment with a lock, a flat trio pocket and a zipped pocket, with the signature name tag and key bell in matching calfskin.
The name carries its own story: P9 refers to the Pont-Neuf, the oldest bridge in Paris, and plays on the P for Pharrell, and each bag has an interior plaque with his line, "The sun is shining on us."
