The Hermès R.M.S Cabin Suitcase is the house's modern take on rolling luggage, and R.M.S stands for Rolling Mobility Suitcase, a line Hermès developed with an unexpected skateboarding influence in its custom wheels and modular construction. In Fauve and Blanc, it pairs Hermès' tan and white across the panels with leather trim, carrying the reinforced leather corners taken straight from the Maison's classic trunks, there for protection as much as for looks.
The engineering is the point. It has a patented rotating telescopic handle that adjusts to any height, a patented curved zipper that opens the case fully across both sides so nothing spills when you unpack, four ultra-mobile custom wheels, rear bumpers, and an ultra-slim TSA-approved lock. The exterior leather is taurillon Regate, a grained leather developed specifically for this suitcase to resist friction and water and to patina with age, and the semi-hard shell is built from Rilsan, a bio-based recyclable material.
Inside, it is lined in caviar canvas with the "H en Biais" motif, with a zipped compartment on one side and an open flat-bottomed compartment on the other, and it comes with a matching protective cover. At cabin size, roughly 35 by 57 by 20 cm, it meets most airline carry-on limits.
