See moreThe Hermès Chypre is the sandal that the entire luxury market has been trying to get hold of for the past three years, and the reason is straightforward: it is the most comfortable and versatile sandal Hermès has ever made. The Konesseur collection currently includes 19 pairs spanning calfskin, suede goatskin, Epsom leather, and Matte Mississippiensis Alligator in an exotic edition that Hermès produces in extremely limited numbers. Colours range from classic neutrals like White, Beige Esquisse, and Gris Nuage through to seasonal shades including Vert Mosaïque, Bleu Tonnerre, Rouge H, and Bleu Celeste paired with Bordeaux.
If you have tried to buy Chypre sandals at the Hermès boutique in Dubai and been told they are not available, you already know why this page exists. The Chypre sells out faster than almost any Hermès product other than Birkin and Kelly bags. At Konesseur, we carry both men's and women's Chypre sandals in multiple sizes, materials, and colourways, authenticated and ready to wear. Why the Hermès Chypre Is So Difficult to Buy
The Chypre sandal has become one of the hardest Hermès products to purchase at retail. Boutiques receive small allocations, popular sizes and colours sell within hours of hitting the floor, and many stores prioritise existing clients with purchase history before making pairs available to walk in customers. The situation mirrors what happens with Birkin and Kelly bags: demand permanently exceeds supply, and the boutique experience often involves being told the piece you want is not currently in stock. This is the reality that drives collectors and Hermès enthusiasts toward authenticated secondary market sources like Konesseur, where the Chypre is available to purchase immediately without waitlists, purchase history requirements, or allocation politics.
Hermès Chypre Materials at Konesseur
The Chypre sandal is produced in several distinct materials, each offering a different look, feel, and level of formality. Our current collection covers four of the most sought after options.
Calfskin is the most popular Chypre material and the version most people picture when they think of this sandal. It is smooth, supple from the first wear, and develops a subtle patina over time. Our calfskin Chypres include Vert Toundra, Bleu Celeste paired with Bordeaux, White, Rouge H, Prunoir with Noir, and the Encore edition in dark brown. Calfskin Chypres are the most versatile option, transitioning easily from poolside to dinner.
Epsom leather is the more structured alternative. It has a fine, embossed grain that makes it stiffer initially but more resistant to scratches and water than smooth calfskin. Our Epsom Chypres include Bleu Tonnerre and Bleu Grignon. For anyone living in Dubai or a similarly warm climate where sandals see heavy rotation, Epsom is arguably the most practical Chypre material because it holds its shape and ages gracefully under daily use.
Suede goatskin is the softest Chypre option, offering a textured, casual aesthetic. Our suede Chypres include Natural Lambskin and Blue Tonnerre. Suede requires slightly more care than leather, as it is more sensitive to moisture and staining, but it delivers a relaxed look that calfskin and Epsom cannot replicate.
The Matte Mississippiensis Alligator Chypre in Graphite is the rarest piece in our Chypre collection. Hermès produces exotic leather sandals in extremely limited quantities, and the alligator Chypre represents the absolute top tier of luxury footwear. At 30,000 AED, it sits in a completely different category from the calfskin and suede editions, and it is the kind of piece that collectors acquire as much for its rarity as for its wearing pleasure.
Hermès Chypre for Men
The Chypre was originally introduced as a men's sandal before expanding to women's sizing, and it remains one of the most popular men's luxury sandals in the world. The men's Chypre features a slightly wider footbed and a more substantial strap proportioned for a larger foot. In Dubai specifically, the men's Chypre has become a staple of the luxury casual wardrobe. It pairs naturally with linen trousers, tailored shorts, or resort wear, offering a level of refinement that generic designer sandals simply do not match. Our men's Chypre selection includes multiple colourways in calfskin, Epsom, and suede across a range of sizes.
Hermès Chypre for Women
The women's Chypre has rapidly become one of the most coveted sandals in luxury fashion. It offers the same anatomical rubber sole and adjustable strap as the men's version but in a slightly narrower profile suited to women's foot proportions. The women's Chypre works as an everyday sandal, a travel companion, or a subtle luxury statement with virtually any casual or smart casual outfit. Our women's Chypre collection includes calfskin in White and Beige Esquisse alongside additional colourways. For women who already own Hermès Oran sandals and want something with more structure and comfort, the Chypre is the natural next step.
Hermès Chypre Sizing Guide
Hermès standardised Chypre sizing in 2023, which simplified what had previously been a confusing process. For calfskin, Epsom, and suede Chypres, the general recommendation is to take your usual Hermès size if you have a normal or narrow foot, and go up half a size if you have a high instep or a wider foot. The adjustable strap across the top of the foot provides some flexibility in fit, which makes the Chypre more forgiving than the Oran sandal in terms of sizing precision.
If you are unsure about your size, we strongly recommend visiting our Dubai location to try the Chypre on before purchasing. Fit is particularly important with sandals at this price point, and a half size can make the difference between a pair you wear daily and a pair that sits in the box. For international clients who cannot visit in person, our team can advise on sizing based on your usual Hermès size, your foot measurements, and the specific material you are considering.
How the Chypre Compares to the Hermès Oran
The Oran and the Chypre are the two defining Hermès sandals, and the comparison comes up constantly. The Oran, introduced in 1997, is a classic flat slide with a single H strap and a leather sole. It is elegant, lightweight, and best suited to occasions where comfort over long distances is not the priority. The Chypre, introduced more recently, adds an anatomical rubber sole for significantly better cushioning, an adjustable strap across the instep for a more secure fit, and a slightly thicker silhouette that reads as modern and sporty rather than purely classic.
For daily wear in Dubai's climate, the Chypre is the more practical choice. The rubber sole provides better grip on marble and tiled surfaces, the cushioning makes walking for extended periods genuinely comfortable, and the adjustable strap means the sandal stays secure on the foot during movement. The Oran remains the more refined option for events and settings where the slim, minimal silhouette is preferred. Many Hermès clients own both.
The Chypre in Dubai: Why It Makes Sense Here
Dubai's climate makes sandals a year round essential rather than a seasonal accessory, and the Chypre is built for exactly this kind of daily use. The anatomical rubber sole handles the heat of sun warmed surfaces better than leather soles, the calfskin and Epsom leathers are durable enough for regular rotation, and the adjustable strap means the sandal accommodates the slight foot swelling that happens in warm weather. For Dubai residents, the Chypre is not a luxury purchase that comes out on weekends. It is an everyday shoe that happens to carry the Hermès name and craftsmanship standard.
Purchasing Hermès Chypre sandals in the UAE also comes with the structural advantage of Dubai's 5% VAT rate compared to 20% in the United Kingdom and 19 to 22% across European markets. While the saving on a single pair of sandals is modest in absolute terms, it adds up quickly for clients building an Hermès wardrobe across multiple categories. For those also shopping our Hermès bags, jewellery, and watches, the cumulative tax advantage of purchasing through Dubai is significant.
Caring for Hermès Chypre Sandals
Calfskin and Epsom Chypres are relatively low maintenance. Wipe them with a soft dry cloth after each wear to remove dust, and store them in their dust bags when not in use. Avoid prolonged exposure to water, though both materials will tolerate brief contact without damage. For deeper cleaning, a damp cloth with a small amount of mild leather cleaner works well. Do not use alcohol based products on any Hermès leather.
Suede Chypres require slightly more attention. Use a suede brush to maintain the nap and remove surface marks. Avoid wearing suede in rain or around water, and treat with a suede protector spray before first wear if you plan to wear them frequently. Store suede Chypres stuffed lightly with tissue to maintain their shape.
The Alligator Chypre should be treated with the same care as any exotic Hermès leather. Avoid exposure to moisture, direct sunlight for extended periods, and heat sources. Store in the dust bag in a cool, ventilated space. Exotic leathers benefit from occasional conditioning with a product specifically designed for crocodilian skins.
Hermès Chypre Authentication at Konesseur
Every Chypre sandal at Konesseur is authenticated before listing. Our process examines the leather quality and grain consistency, stitching precision and thread colour, hardware finishing on the adjustable strap mechanism, sole construction and the Hermès H pattern embossed into the rubber, interior stamping and date markings, and overall construction quality against Hermès production standards. For the exotic alligator edition, authentication extends to scale pattern verification and the specific finishing techniques Hermès applies to Mississippiensis alligator. Full details are available on our authenticity page.
Complete Your Hermès Collection

For clients building a complete wardrobe from Konesseur, the Chypre is often the first purchase in what becomes a long relationship with the collection. Frequently Asked Questions
How much do Hermès Chypre sandals cost at Konesseur?
Our Chypre sandals range from 5,000 to 5,500 AED for calfskin, Epsom, and suede editions. The Matte Mississippiensis Alligator Chypre is priced at 30,000 AED, reflecting the extreme rarity of exotic leather Hermès sandals. All prices are listed directly on each product page.
Are Hermès Chypre sandals available in Dubai boutiques?
Occasionally, but they sell out almost immediately. The Chypre has become one of the hardest Hermès products to purchase at retail, with popular sizes and colours disappearing within hours of arriving in store. Many boutiques prioritise clients with existing purchase history. At Konesseur, the Chypre is available to purchase immediately without waitlists or allocation requirements.
What size should I get in Hermès Chypre sandals?
For calfskin, Epsom, and suede Chypres, take your usual Hermès size if you have normal or narrow feet. Go up half a size if you have a high instep or wider feet. The adjustable strap provides some flexibility in fit. If you are unsure, we recommend visiting our Dubai location to try them on, or contacting our team with your usual Hermès size and foot measurements for a recommendation.
What is the difference between Hermès Chypre and Oran sandals?
The Oran is a flat slide with a single H strap and leather sole, best for dressier occasions. The Chypre adds an anatomical rubber sole for better cushioning, an adjustable strap across the instep for a more secure fit, and a slightly thicker silhouette. The Chypre is more comfortable for extended wear and better suited to daily use, while the Oran is the more refined, minimal option.
Which Chypre material is best for Dubai weather?
Epsom leather is the most practical choice for daily wear in Dubai. It resists scratches, tolerates brief water contact better than other materials, and holds its shape under regular rotation in warm conditions. Calfskin is the most comfortable from the first wear and works well for frequent use. Suede is best reserved for cooler months or evening wear, as it is more sensitive to heat and moisture.
Do Hermès Chypre sandals come in men's sizes?
Yes. The Chypre was originally introduced as a men's sandal and remains one of the most popular luxury men's sandals globally. Our collection includes multiple men's Chypres in calfskin, Epsom, and suede across various sizes and colourways. The men's version features a slightly wider footbed and proportionally larger strap.
Are the Hermès Chypre sandals at Konesseur authentic?
Every Chypre sandal undergoes multi point authentication before entering our collection. We examine leather quality, stitching precision, hardware finishing, sole construction, interior stamping, and overall build quality against Hermès production standards. For the alligator edition, authentication includes scale pattern verification. Full details are on our authenticity page.
Can I buy Hermès Chypre sandals online and have them shipped?
Yes. We offer worldwide shipping on all Chypre sandals with full insurance and tracking. Purchasing through Konesseur in Dubai gives you access to the UAE's 5% VAT rate, which is lower than the 20% charged in the UK and equivalent rates across Europe. Many of our Chypre clients are based internationally and purchase specifically for the availability and pricing advantage.
Are Hermès Chypre sandals comfortable?
The Chypre is widely regarded as the most comfortable sandal Hermès has ever produced. The anatomical rubber sole provides cushioning that Hermès leather soled sandals do not offer, and the adjustable strap allows you to customise the fit across the top of the foot. Calfskin is the softest material from the first wear, while Epsom requires a brief break in period before reaching full comfort. Many Chypre owners describe them as sandals they can walk in all day without discomfort.
What colours of Hermès Chypre does Konesseur carry?
Our current collection includes Gris Nuage, Vert Mosaïque, Vert Forêt, Rouge Sépia with Noir, Bleu Tonnerre, Vert Toundra, Bleu Celeste with Bordeaux, Encore in dark brown, White, Beige Esquisse, Rouge H, Natural suede, Blue Tonnerre suede, Prunoir with Noir, Graphite Alligator, and Bleu Grignon. Colour availability changes as new pairs are sourced and existing pairs are purchased, so contact us if you are looking for a specific colourway.
How should I store my Hermès Chypre sandals?
Store your Chypres in their dust bags in a cool, dry, ventilated space away from direct sunlight and heat. For suede editions, stuff lightly with tissue to maintain shape. For calfskin and Epsom, simply placing them in the dust bags is sufficient. Avoid sealed plastic containers, which can trap moisture and damage leather over time. The alligator edition should be stored flat with tissue between the straps to prevent contact marks.
Can I sell my Hermès Chypre sandals to Konesseur?
Yes. We acquire Hermès Chypre sandals in excellent or new condition, particularly in sought after colourways and sizes. Exotic leather editions and limited seasonal colours are of particular interest. Visit our sell with us page or contact us directly with details of your pair, including the size, colour, material, and condition.
